Welcome to Tortuguero

Hidden away on Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast, Tortuguero is one of the country’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations. Often referred to as the “Amazon of Costa Rica”, this remote region is a maze of rainforest, winding canals and tranquil lagoons that can only be reached by boat or small aircraft.

The journey itself is part of the adventure, as you travel through lush jungle waterways surrounded by incredible wildlife before arriving at your lodge. It’s a place where nature takes centre stage, with monkeys swinging through the trees, colourful toucans soaring overhead and sloths quietly resting in the canopy.

I was fortunate enough to visit Tortuguero during my own trip to Costa Rica, and it was one of the highlights of my adventure. Staying in a lodge that could only be reached by boat made the experience feel truly special, while waking up each morning surrounded by rainforest and wildlife is something I’ll never forget.

Whether you’re exploring the canals by boat, searching for turtles, spotting incredible wildlife or simply relaxing in the heart of the rainforest, Tortuguero offers an unforgettable glimpse into one of the most biodiverse places on Earth. It’s a destination that perfectly captures the spirit of Costa Rica and is a must-visit for anyone who loves wildlife, nature and adventure.
