This 14-day small-group adventure is a fantastic way to experience several very different sides of Brazil in one trip, combining vibrant cities and iconic landscapes with some seriously impressive wildlife experiences.
Starting in historic Salvador, the journey heads into the Amazon, where Manaus provides the gateway to the rainforest. Time here includes exploring the jungle by boat and on foot, with opportunities to experience the incredible biodiversity of this vast region.
The wildlife focus continues in the Pantanal, one of South America’s great wildlife destinations. Staying at a comfortable lodge, you’ll have two full days to explore the wetlands by different means depending on the season and conditions — including walking, boat trips, 4×4 and even horseback. Expect opportunities to see capybara, caiman, armadillos and an extraordinary variety of birdlife.
For those wanting to take the wildlife experience even further, there is an optional full-day jaguar search. This is not included in the standard tour price and involves spending much of the day on the Rio Claro, searching the riverbanks for these elusive cats. Sightings are never guaranteed, but the Pantanal is renowned as one of the world’s best places to look for jaguars in the wild.
The wildlife and nature experiences are balanced with some of Brazil’s great icons, including the spectacular Iguazu Falls, before finishing in Rio de Janeiro with time to explore Santa Teresa and take the cable car to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain.
It’s a busy, full-on itinerary, with several internal flights needed to cover such a vast country, but that’s also what makes it so appealing — in just two weeks you experience rainforest, wetlands, waterfalls, beaches, cities and an incredible variety of wildlife.
