The original Mamma Mia! was filmed primarily in Skopelos, with additional scenes in Skiathos and Damouchari on the Pelion peninsula. Together, they created the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi.
Skopelos is the star of the adventure.
Visit Kastani Beach, the setting for several of the film’s famous beach scenes, and climb the steps to the beautiful Agios Ioannis Kastri chapel, perched dramatically above the sea.
Then explore Skopelos Town, with its whitewashed houses, winding streets, little tavernas and harbour.
Skiathos adds another layer, with its atmospheric Old Port and beautiful island scenery.
And on the mainland, Damouchari provides the setting for the famous harbour and jetty scenes.
This could become a wonderful Greek island-hopping adventure, combining the filming locations with beaches, boat trips, traditional tavernas and plenty of time simply enjoying island life.
Vis & the Adriatic
Then take the story somewhere completely different.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again returned to the fictional Kalokairi — but this time the island was brought to life by Vis in Croatia.
Discover Vis Town and the beautiful fishing village of Komiža, explore Stiniva Bay, visit secluded coves and enjoy the spectacular Adriatic coastline.
The island’s historic buildings, crystal-clear waters and wonderfully unspoilt atmosphere make it an adventure in its own right.
