🌿 Discover Sarawak
Welcome to Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo — a land of ancient rainforest, spectacular caves, winding rivers and fascinating Indigenous cultures.
From the vibrant riverside city of Kuching, venture into the wild to discover orangutans, proboscis monkeys and colourful hornbills. Explore the coastal rainforest of Bako National Park, journey deep into the caves of Gunung Mulu National Park, or travel by river into remote parts of the jungle.
But Sarawak isn’t just about wildlife and wilderness. Traditional longhouses, Indigenous communities, local food and centuries-old cultural traditions reveal another side of Borneo — one where people and rainforest remain deeply connected.
Whether you’re seeking wildlife encounters, jungle adventures, extraordinary landscapes or meaningful cultural experiences, Sarawak offers a wonderfully different side of Malaysia. 🐒🌿🛶

✈️ Getting to Sarawak
For most travellers, Kuching is the natural starting point for exploring Sarawak. The state capital is well connected by air and acts as a gateway to attractions including Bako National Park and the surrounding rainforest.
Miri is particularly useful if you’re heading into northern Sarawak, with easy access to attractions such as Niah National Park and the spectacular caves of Gunung Mulu. Mulu itself is a remote destination and is best reached by air, with flights connecting it with Kuching, Miri and Kota Kinabalu.
From the UK, you’ll generally travel to Sarawak via an Asian or Malaysian hub, with Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and other regional gateways providing connections into Kuching or Miri.
Once you’re there, domestic flights make it possible to combine several very different parts of Sarawak without spending your entire holiday on the road.
Top tip: If Mulu is on your wish list, build it into the itinerary rather than treating it as an afterthought — it’s one of Sarawak’s great remote adventures. 🦇🌿
🌏 Sarawak & Borneo Combinations
Sarawak works brilliantly as part of a wider Borneo adventure. With three countries sharing the island, you can create a journey that combines very different landscapes, wildlife and cultures.
🇲🇾 Sarawak + Sabah
Combine Sarawak’s caves, rainforest and Indigenous cultures with Sabah’s orangutans, Kinabatangan River, Mount Kinabalu and tropical islands.
🇧🇳 Sarawak + Brunei
Add a fascinating change of pace with Bandar Seri Begawan, Kampong Ayer and Ulu Temburong’s rainforest, creating a journey that mixes wilderness, culture and royal heritage.
🇮🇩 Sarawak + Kalimantan
For the serious wildlife enthusiast, venture across the border into Indonesian Borneo for orangutan encounters, river expeditions and Tanjung Puting National Park.
🌏 The Ultimate Borneo Journey
Why choose? A longer itinerary could combine Sarawak → Brunei → Sabah → Kalimantan, creating an extraordinary journey across three countries and some of Borneo’s most remarkable wilderness areas.
One island. Three countries. Countless ways to explore it. 🐒🌿🛶
