My Safari Adventure on Sir Bani Yas Island 🦒
Over Christmas, I was sailing around the Arabian Gulf on board Celestyal Journey, and one of the excursions I booked was a wildlife safari on Sir Bani Yas Island in the UAE.
The adventure started as we stepped off the ship, found our safari jeep and set off to explore the island. There was something quite exciting about heading out across the landscape, never quite knowing which animals we might encounter around the next corner!
Along the way, our guides shared fascinating stories about the island, how it became a wildlife destination and the people behind its development. It was just as interesting learning about the island’s history as it was spotting the animals.
The safari guides also kept in touch with one another, helping their groups locate different wildlife across the island. Some animals were easier to spot than others, but the giraffes certainly seemed to be playing hide-and-seek! 🦒 After a bit of searching, though, we finally found them.
Of course, the wildlife was the highlight, but I also loved seeing the island itself. The rugged scenery, beautiful coastline and fabulous views made the whole experience even more memorable.
It was a wonderful way to spend a day on a cruise stop and a reminder that the UAE has so much more to offer beyond its famous cities and beaches.
Would I recommend it? Absolutely! If you’re cruising around the Arabian Gulf and have the opportunity to visit Sir Bani Yas Island, a wildlife safari is well worth considering.
And yes, finding those giraffes made the adventure even sweeter! 😁🦒🐸
