Cuba is an island of vibrant colours, infectious rhythms and fascinating history, where vintage American cars cruise along cobbled streets, pastel-coloured buildings line historic plazas and the sounds of salsa spill out into the evening air. From the atmospheric streets of Havana and the beautiful colonial architecture of Trinidad to palm-fringed beaches, lush countryside and traditional tobacco farms, Cuba offers a travel experience unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean.

I spent three weeks exploring Cuba in December 2018, travelling solo and experiencing the island’s unique character, rich culture and wonderful contrasts. It remains a memorable destination, full of history, music, warmth and unforgettable scenery.
