🎨 A New Chapter for Memphis Art
Memphis is about to gain an exciting new cultural landmark.
The Memphis Brooks Museum of Art is preparing to leave its longtime home in Overton Park and move to a spectacular new riverfront location. Memphis Art Museum is scheduled to open on 6 December 2026, bringing a major new attraction to the city’s waterfront.
Designed by renowned Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, the new 123,500-square-foot cultural campus will feature expansive gallery spaces, a rooftop sculpture garden and a riverfront community courtyard.
It promises to be a fascinating addition to any Memphis itinerary — particularly for travellers who enjoy combining art, culture and architecture with the city’s famous music and food scene.
Visiting Memphis before the move?
The Brooks Museum remains open at its current Overton Park location while preparations continue for the move. There is also a chance to experience the museum in its existing home before it closes, with free admission throughout September 2026 as part of the countdown to its relocation.
