🌴 Beaches & Coast — Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s coastline is wonderfully varied. From palm-fringed beaches and laid-back fishing villages to lively surf spots, hidden coves and historic coastal towns, there’s far more to discover than simply finding a sun lounger.

The beauty of Sri Lanka is that the coast can easily become part of a much bigger adventure. You might spend a few days exploring ancient cities and wildlife-rich national parks before heading south to the Indian Ocean, combine a beach stay with the tea country, or build an entire tailor-made journey around the coastline.

The south and west coasts are popular for their beaches, historic Galle and relaxed coastal resorts, while the east coast offers a different atmosphere, with places such as Trincomalee and Arugam Bay bringing beautiful beaches, surfing and outdoor adventure.

There are opportunities for surfing, snorkelling, diving, whale watching, turtle experiences and boat trips, as well as plenty of quiet corners where you can simply slow down and enjoy the tropical scenery.

Whether you’re looking for adventure, wildlife, culture, relaxation — or a combination of all four — Sri Lanka’s coast gives you plenty of ways to make your journey your own. 🌴🌊🐢

And after all that exploring, sometimes there’s nothing better than a few days beside the Indian Ocean. 🐸🇱🇰
