Marseille
Marseille has a wonderfully relaxed Mediterranean character, where a historic port, colourful waterfront and lively local culture come together.
I passed through Marseille and had a lovely, relaxing evening there. After the bustle of travelling, it was the perfect place to slow down, enjoy the atmosphere and take in the views around the Vieux-Port. There’s something particularly appealing about watching the boats come and go as the city settles into its evening rhythm.

From the hilltop Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde and historic Le Panier to the cafés, seafood and waterfront promenades, Marseille offers plenty to discover. It’s also an excellent gateway to the spectacular Calanques National Park, with its dramatic limestone cliffs and turquoise Mediterranean coves.
Marseille is a city to experience at your own pace — and sometimes, simply enjoying a relaxed evening by the harbour is enough.
