White-Water Rafting in Slovenia
With emerald rivers flowing from the Julian Alps through dramatic gorges and forest-covered valleys, Slovenia is a fantastic destination for getting out on the water.

Raft the Soča River
The spectacular Soča River is Slovenia’s best-known destination for white-water rafting. Famous for its extraordinary turquoise colour, the river winds through the beautiful Soča Valley in northwestern Slovenia, surrounded by the peaks and forests of the Julian Alps.
Guided rafting trips offer an exciting way to experience the valley from a completely different perspective, combining stretches of fast-flowing water and rapids with calmer sections where you can appreciate the incredible scenery around you.
Trips are available at different levels, so you don’t necessarily need to be an experienced rafter to join the adventure. Equipment and instruction are normally provided, making it an accessible activity for first-timers as well as those looking for their next adrenaline fix.
The towns of Bovec and Kobarid make excellent bases for exploring the Soča Valley, with rafting just one of many outdoor activities available in the region.
For an adventure holiday in Slovenia, it’s difficult to beat the combination of turquoise water, Alpine scenery and a paddle in your hands.
Would Adventure Frog volunteer for this one? After the wind tunnel, we’re not entirely sure he gets a choice. 🐸🤣

Walking & Hiking in Slovenia
You don’t have to throw yourself down a river or fly in a wind tunnel to experience Slovenia’s adventurous side.
Sometimes all you need is a pair of walking boots.
From gentle lakeside paths and vineyard trails to dramatic mountain hikes, Slovenia offers walking opportunities for almost every ability.
Triglav National Park & the Julian Alps
At the heart of Slovenia’s outdoor landscape is Triglav National Park, the country’s only national park and home to some of its most spectacular mountain scenery.
The Julian Alps provide everything from relatively easy valley walks to demanding mountain routes, with waterfalls, forests, gorges, Alpine meadows and traditional mountain huts along the way.
Experienced hikers can even take on Mount Triglav, Slovenia’s highest mountain at 2,864 metres. Reaching the summit is a serious mountain undertaking rather than an ordinary day walk, but there are countless easier routes that allow visitors to enjoy the national park without climbing its highest peak.
Walk Around Lake Bled
For something much gentler, the path around Lake Bled is one of Slovenia’s classic walks.
The approximately 6 km route circles the lake, offering ever-changing views of Bled Island, its little church, Bled Castle and the surrounding mountains.
Stop for photographs, take a boat across to the island or reward yourself afterwards with a slice of famous Bled cream cake.
Now that’s our kind of hiking. 🐸🍰

Discover Lake Bohinj
Less developed and wonderfully scenic, Lake Bohinj provides another superb base for walking.
Surrounded by the Julian Alps and lying within Triglav National Park, the area offers lakeside walks, forest trails and access to routes leading deeper into the mountains.
Nearby Savica Waterfall is another popular destination and can easily be incorporated into a day exploring the Bohinj area.
Walk Through the Soča Valley
The Soča Valley isn’t only for rafting.
Walking trails follow sections of the river through forests, across suspension bridges and past gorges and waterfalls, with that remarkable turquoise water providing the backdrop.
It’s an excellent option if one person wants to tackle the rapids while somebody else would much rather keep their feet firmly on dry land!
Walking Through Slovenia’s Wine Country
And walking in Slovenia doesn’t always have to mean mountains.
The vineyards and villages of Goriška Brda and the Vipava Valley offer a completely different style of walking holiday, combining countryside trails with local food, pretty villages and, naturally, opportunities to sample Slovenian wine.
Mountains, lakes, rivers or vineyards — in Slovenia, some of the best experiences begin on foot.
