Greece – Timeless Beauty, Endless Discovery

From sun-drenched islands and crystal-clear seas to ancient temples and picturesque mountain villages, Greece is a country that has something for every traveller. With over 6,000 islands and islets, a fascinating history spanning thousands of years, and some of the warmest hospitality you’ll find anywhere in the world, it’s easy to see why so many people return again and again.

Whether you’re exploring the iconic Acropolis in Athens, watching the sunset over Santorini’s whitewashed villages, relaxing on the beaches of Corfu or discovering the medieval streets of Rhodes, every region has its own unique character. Add delicious Mediterranean cuisine, welcoming locals and a relaxed pace of life, and Greece becomes much more than just a beach holiday.

For me, Greece is a destination that has evolved with every visit. Each island has offered something completely different, and every trip has left me wanting to return.

My Greece Story

My first holiday abroad was to Corfu around 1989, making Greece the country where my passion for travel truly began. I still remember the excitement of boarding my first flight and discovering a completely different culture, climate and way of life. Looking back, it’s fitting that my travel journey started here.

In 1996, I spent two wonderful weeks on the island of Aegina in the Saronic Gulf. One of the highlights was being able to hop across to Athens several times to visit the Acropolis and the Panathenaic Stadium, home of the first modern Olympic Games. It gave me the perfect combination of relaxing island life and unforgettable history.

I returned to Greece in 2018 to explore the beautiful island of Rhodes, with its fascinating medieval Old Town, beautiful coastline and rich history.

Then, in 2019, I finally visited Santorini. It was a destination I had deliberately chosen after seeing so many photographs over the years and wondering whether it could really be as beautiful as everyone claimed. It absolutely was. Most recently, I returned to Athens in 2026 for a travel conference before taking a nostalgic day trip back to Aegina. Revisiting places I’d first discovered decades earlier reminded me why Greece continues to hold such a special place in my heart.
